Ginko Tree

The ginko tree is now mostly used to make remedies with its fan shaped leaves. The key methods of preparation using the leaves are in tinctures and pills. The seeds are also still used, but mostly because of their connection to ancient Chinese herbal medicine - decoctions are usually made from the seeds in this case.
The extract from the ginko seeds is supposed to ease wheezing and loosen phlegm. Decoctions are made by simmering a tablespoon of dry herb (in this case, the seeds must be husked before use) in 3 cups water, straining it and taking the standard dosage (2 cups) 3 times a day. Be sure to pay attention to side effects that may occur from ingesting any herbal remedy and read up on any cautions beforehand.
