Along with being used to treat age-related memory problems and dementia, ginko is considered a remedy for various ailments. Ginko is purported to help blood circulation in the legs that is otherwise impaired by hardening of the arteries, an aid for impotence brought on by antidepressent drugs, relieving bloating during PMS, tinnitus and macular degeneration. Some of these proposed uses do not have substantial scientific evidence to back them up.
There are significant studies to show that ginko can help with circulation in the legs. Constituents within ginko can thin the blood, reduce clotting, and support blood-vessel relaxants already in the body.
