Eucaliptus tree locations include Australia, of course, as a native species, in California where it was brought in during the gold rush to add a fast growing energy source, and in several areas of the world like Guatamala where it is used to dry up marshes since it uses vast quantities of water. There is actually great debate over the many established species now in California. It is a non-native species and thus has taken over areas such that native plants cannot survive anymore. Also, since it adapted to a land where it promoted and thrived from fire, it poses a problem in a different ecological system where other species have not adapted to fire as well.
