Another benefit to using valarian with dogs, or cats, is that the herb, once creating a sedative effect on the animal, can become a useful tool in helping with aggression. Aggression in animals should be approached with many methods, not least of which is positive reinforcement training and loads of fun enrichment, but having a relatively harmless herb is another tool to gain the trust and friendship back from a loved pet.
Reading through online discussion groups about how to use herbal remedies with different types and sizes of pets is one of the best ways to know how to use these herbs with your pets. Even if you are not in an area with a holistic veterinarian, reading others' posts about their experiences and what advice their veterinarians have given is immensely helpful.
