Eucaliptus can help treat asthma when used as an inhalant. This is a common preparation for using essential oils, and in the case of eucaliptus, the most useful preparation. In fact, eucaliptus is not recommended to be taken internally except in the instance of inhaling the vapors from a heated, diluted solution.
Eucaliptus has the ability to dilate bronchioles in the lungs which is why it may help with asthma, since the ailment makes the airways inflammed. Put 5-10 drops of eucaliptus essential oil into 1 liter of boiling water. Place a towel over the head which is raised above the bowl of water - inhale for about 10 minutes. Do not forget to close your eyes - a eucaliptus steam will surprise you with its strength.
