Eucaliptus
Posted By: Maureen Date: Tuesday, June 6 2006, at 11:07 p.m.
With a common name like Tasmanian blue gum - where else can the eucaliptus come from but Australia. As with tea tree, eucaliptus is a native Australian plant that was used in traditional herbal medicine by the Aborigines. It was first introduced to the Western world in the 1800s.
Eucaliptus has become one of many crops in Australia that come under special regulations in order to produce high quality products. There are many proven and historical uses of eucaliptus, but none so popular as an expectorant, breaking up fluid in the lungs and getting mucous to exit the body.
