Athlete's foot is caused by a fungal infection. Often, conventional medications are only partially successful in ridding the body of this organism. Herbal remedies have shown to be effective, however. This is partially because an herbal healer will not just treat the symptoms but will also work to help the body's immune system which may be compromised in some way - fungal infection is considered by some naturopathic practitioners to be a sign of this. Mixing a tee trea oil soak can help battle the fungal infection: use 5 to 7 drops of oil to 4 ounces of water and soak up to three times a day for two weeks. Dry the feet thoroughly and wash all towels immediately so as not to reinfect with the fungus. Diluted oil at 7 drops tee tree to 3 drops of vegetable oil can be used directly on infected toe nails. Adding 4 to 6 drops of garlic oil to the mixtures can also aid in fighting Athlete's foot.
