Camomile

Camomile was used by the early Egyptians, Greeks, Romans and Indians. The uses varied from treating kidney and liver disorders to simple headaches. Today camomile is widely used throughout the world especially for treating skin problems, inflamed membranes due to illness, and to induce sleep.

Camomile is on the FDA's GRAS, or "generally regarded as safe" list. There do not seem to be any serious reports of camomile effecting children or pregnant women. Taking large quantities of camomile is not recommended if one is already taking blood thinners, as camomile contains a naturally occurring coumarin compound that acts a blood thinner.
