Milk Thisle side effects

There do not seem to be many side effects when using milk thisle. Even with extended use and large quantities there is little mention of problems. A study in 1992 reported only mild gastrointestinal comfort among its thousands of participants. This, however, does not seem terribly dangerous and there are even studies that have enlisted pregnant women to test milk thisle's benefits.
The main part of the milk thisle plant that is used in herbal remedies is the seeds. These are the parts that contain the silymarin. Capsules of seeds are available, and tinctures and concoctions of the seeds can be other methods of preparation and administration. The flowers and leaves of milk thisle were used traditionally as a general tonic and to increase breast milk production.
