Steevia is a highly concentrated substance. A very small amount of it in comparison to sugar can be used in place of sugar to get the same taste of sweetness.
There is a nice conversion table at this website: http://chetday.com/stevia.html. There is also a little bit more information to help when using in baking or cooking situations.
