Different texts will give slightly varying recommended dosages for astragulus. It also depends on the form in which you take it. A decoction can be made with a pint of water and a teaspoon of dried root, simmering for 30 minutes and then draining the fulid - this makes a dose for a day split in two. It is suggested with herbs to take them on a schedule of 5 days on 2 days off or two weeks on then a week off. The reason for this is noted to be that what you are really gunning for is to have your own body working it's magic to fight infection or to heal itself and the herbal remedies help jump start it or support it. So you want to offer your own body the chance to work.
Capsules are convenient for me. I personally use Solaray 400 mg Astragulus capsules. When I am just weary and don't want to loss the fight, I'll take two a day. When I already have prodromal symptoms, I'll take 2, three times per day. Read the label of the brand you take to know what the suggested dosage is.
