Ginsing farming seems to pay off if you are on the commercial side of the process. One source indicated that a ginsing farmer was paid a little over $150 per pound of ginsing, while the buyer resold it on the market for as much as $25,000 for one root. There are farms throughout Asia and America producing 22 different plants that are marketed as ginsing. Many are from the genus Panax, while others are not ginsing at all, but rather unrelated plants that may have some of the same qualities for herbal health and are marketed as such. Perhaps this is why the properties of ginsing are so widespread and not necessarily agreed on by herbal sources - there are so many different plants to choose from with the same name.
