Turning to calming herbs such as valarien and passion flower when dealing with a complicated digestive problem such as IBS seems to be getting on the right track. Especially when you pay attention to when your symptoms occur. When you're at home, in a comfortable and secure environment, close to all the "essentials" there isn't as much worry and stress on your mind. But when you head out to deal with life and people and sometimes uncomfortable physical environments, then your mind is going to be anything but calm.

And this is one of the underlying stimulants of IBS symptoms - the brain under duress. The mind is quite powerful in moving the digestive system in ways we may not be wanting it to go. So, using valarien and passion flower to ease the mind, thus the body, is an excellent step towards improving your quality of life.

Take one step further with other mind calming activities. Don't underestimate what stress is doing to your body. Folks always want to just pop some herbal pills or sip some tea thinking that'll do ya - but it's really about a complete and thorough overhall of the mind/body system. Meditation and/or breathing techniques can help ease your mind especially when incorporating these in an environment away from home.
