Black cohash is actually indicated as an herb to take when one is having fluid retention. I do not know if this applies to fluid retention around the eyes. There are common sense approaches to dealing with fluid retention such as limiting your amount of salt intake, reducing the sugars in your diet as well as cutting down on calories. The hormonal fluctuations and decrease that come with menopause may be responsible for the fluid retention. Some herbs that can help with fluid retention are dandilion and green tea, both diuretics. It's a good idea to read up on the pros and cons of taking estrogen during this time, even from herbs. There are conflicting views about whether the short term benefits are worth the long term drawbacks. And remember that when herbs are indicated for menpause it may be because they mimic estrogen or contain estrogen so may have the same detrimental effects as estrogen.
