Aniseseed is already well known as a digestive aid - but the chemical anethole that gives it the distinct flavor is also estrogenic. What this means is that it can be helpful is stimulating libido. It may also help stimulate breast milk production. But be forewarned about increasing your intake of estrogen containing herbs and read up on how estrogens can effect your body. There is a lot of information out there about how too much estrogen in the body, to where the liver has a hard time processing it out like it should, may increase cell division and aid in overgrowth of cells.
It really is a good idea to become an excellent sleuth when it comes to home medicating - or even accepting doctor recommended medication. The nitty-gritty may not be what you want to hear, but taking care of ourselves is never as simple as popping an herbal capsule or whipping up some tea. A healthy life consists of healthy food intake, exercise and paying attention to your body's changes.
