Alo vera benefits seem to go beyond just soothing the sunburn. Doctors use it to heal other types of skin problems caused by yeast, chemicals, and viruses like herpes simplex. It has even been used internally to help with stomach ulcers.

Alo vera may benefit HIV patients as well, and I've read this includes feline subjects with FIV. There is not a huge amount of supporting evidence, yet, but alo vera contains acemannan, which is a polysaccaride immune stimulant. Acemannan also inhibits virus growth which may the reason it has shown to help in these patients.
