Well, if you want to know about the side effects of hodia, you may have to wait a bit. Research has not shown conclusive evidence of what's going on on all fronts when hodia is ingested. Almost any page or post you see about hodia states the fact that the pharmaceutical company responsible for much of the early research on hodia could not isolate the problematic constituents of hodia that seem to effect the liver. In fact, there isn't much information available on how, exactly, the liver is effected.

One warning indicates that hodia may mask the signals telling your brain that your blood sugar levels are okay when they really are not. Also, hodia may also suppress thirst so that, though your body may actually be dehydrated, you won't know it. If you ask my opinion, this is an herb to skip if you are wanting to shed some excess weight.
