Luckily, making an infusion (tea) from aerial parts of the plant is an easy way of preparing the herb for ingestion. Passon Flower is one of those herbs that calls for the aerial parts to be used, in fact.
Use 1 tsp. dried leaves and flowers, or 2 tsp. fresh, with one cup of water. Pour water that is just boiling onto the herb and let sit for 10 minutes. Sieve out the herb and you have one nice cup of calming remedy. The medicinal value of some herbs can evaporate during this period, so be sure and cover the pot or cup until the infusion is done. Though dosages vary according to the strength of the herb, Passon Flower is considered to be a nonaddictive tranquilizer, so the recommended dosing of 2-3 cups a day may be useful.
