Actually, digging deeper into the literature - it seems like the verdict is still out. There are studies that seem to show that blood sugar is, in fact, lowered at least in vivo (in laboratory animals) by using some compounds of cinnimon. Yet there are other studies that do not show that this occurs. As with most research that I've been around, it depends a lot upon the design of the project and the motivation of the research team. If its just numbers they want than you can pretty much massage the data to get *something* out of it.
But it does seem promising in some of those studies, so I wouldn't totally rule it out. I'm not a fan of animal research so I think I'll look more and more towards the clinical research for cinnimon's effects on people. I think there are enough human subjects out there to help us get some more data. The high profile clinical study done in Pakistan did show all of the subjects producing natural insulin more effectively as well as reducing their blood sugar levels. Plus, it reduced their cholesterol levels. So - let's keep our eyes peeled.
