Slipery Elm is a good herb to help external healing, as well. It is believed to help because of its mucilage properties. It seems to be able to draw out infection from sores or boils, as well as heal the area by helping reconnect the tissue. History of the herb shows that it was a general herb to use in all circumstances with no side effects, though recent research has shown a small percentage of allergic reactions to slipery elm.
Respiratory conditions also seem to benefit from slipery elm. Bronchitis and coughs can benefit, probably from the mucilage properties, as well. It is also seen as a good food, highly nourishing and replenishing.
