Yukka is an herbal remedy that may prove to help in battling cancer in the human body. Research shows that there is an anti-tumor property of the flowers when they are freshly bloomed. This trait disappears, however, once the flowers die. Extracts from the flowers proved in the laboratory to effectively fight against cancerous cells. So, I've been anxiously awaiting the day that my yukka plants will bloom so I can run out there and pick the flowers for a cancer-fighting infusion. However, yukka plants may hibernate for a decade before flowering so I guess I'll rely on some other cancer fighting herbs like turmeric. Yukka has been historically used as an arthritis remedy but there doesn't seem to be strong evidence that it works well. It is also purported to be a detoxifying herb.
