The Gingko biloba tree as the oldest living species of tree, is a hardy tree, living a 1000 years and surviving the elements and pollution with much more grace than other species. The extracts of the gingko biloba tree's leaves and seeds have been used for centuries as remedies for a variety of ailments and prevention of mental deficiencies. As an anti-inflammatory, gingko biloba is important to help with damaged nerve tissue that is inflammed like with multiple sclerosis patients, for instance.

Gingko has also been purported to help with asthma by blocking PAF, or platelet-activating factor. PAF is one of the substances that creates allergic reactions in the body and causes spasms of the bronchial muscles. With gingko working, PAF is inhibited and helps to relieve the symptoms of asthma.
