There may be side effects of don quai usage, or contraindications to be aware of. A contraindication simply means that don quai should not be considered for certain illnesses or problems and may even make them worse. For example, since don quai is used to improve circulation or as a "blood-moving" remedy in more traditional terms, it should not be considered when someone has a heavy menstration or has lost a lot of blood.
There is also information that shows that don quai can create a skin sensitivity and therefore sunlight may affect the skin more harshly than when not taking don quai. Also, don quai is contraindicated during a rise in pulse, rapid breathing, fever, diarrhea or abdominal trouble.
