Traditional Chinese Herbal Remidies Controlled

There is little to control the use of traditional Chinese herbal remidies in the United States. In 1994, the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act was passed which left little control over any herbal preparations from how they were manufactured to how they were labeled for dosage and use. This means that there are no real restrictions placed on companies for quality standards of their products. This is why I always search for information about a company online and read about how they ensure quality in their products from their choice of plant suppliers or growers to their choice of dosage recommendations. Though there are few standards for herbal remidies, it leaves one freer to choose how to treat oneself. If legislation does increase, it could help impose better standards, but at the risk of giving the consumer less of a choice or no choice at all.
