Tumeric has been used for centuries in East Asia, both in Chinese medicine and in Indian traditional herbal medicine, or Ayurveda. Tumeric can be used to treat Alzheimer's disease. Evidence shows that the useful property of being an anti-inflammatory is key to preventing Alzheimer's. Relieving inflammation is one of the main reasons that tumeric is used in the world as a medical supplement. Its also a more potent antioxident that vitamin E and can help the brain from succombing to oxidation and the problems that occur with it. Tumeric is better than conventional medicine because it does not have long term use side effects. Anti-inflammatory meds can cause stomach problems, upset and ulcers. Tumeric even has properties to aid in digestion and not work against the system. Also, the main ingredient in tumeric, the curcumin, is the right type of antioxident to save the brain from the free radicals that invade.
