Reshi Mushroom

Reshi mushrooms are just one of many species of mushrooms that have been used in Asia for centuries to boost the immune system. Studies have shown that mushrooms can help the body fight bacteria, viruses, and stress. The reshi mushroom has some interesting nicknames: in Japan it is the "10,000 year mushroom", while in China it is the "mushroom of immortality". It is seen as an ultimate healing mushroom for the body though the constituents that lend it its properties have not been totally studied or proven.

One warning is that the reshi has a horrible taste. There are extracts made into pills which make taking reshi as a supplement much more bearable. One caution about long term use of the mushroom is that it can cause a dry mouth, as well as gastrointestinal upset.
