If you have ever lived in the southeastern United States, then you know that kudzo is the blanket of the natural world. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, kudzo is so much more than that - it is an effective remedy for many ailments. Historically, kudzo was used to treat muscle pain and to treat measles. Many times it is recommeded specifically if pain is due to upper back and neck problems. The root is the part of the plant used in TCM and has also been used to treat headaches, dizziness, and numbness brought on by high blood pressure. It can also treat diarrhea and dysentery.
Traditionally, kudzo has been used to treat alcoholism, both as a morning after remedy and as a more long term type of intervention to help the person stop being an alcoholic.
