Horse chesnut creme is a popular feminine product. The creme is used to relieve the fluid retention of varicose veins, as well as relieve them of inflammation. Horse chesnut is also an astrigent which means it has a constricting or binding effect on the veins. Research has shown that this herbal remedy is actually effective for its intended purpose. The tablets, however, may be a better way to achieve results other than the creme. The tablets seem to have higher concentrations of the important constituents that lend horse chesnut its properties.
Lotions are easy to make at home, though. Just make an infusion or decoction of the horse chesnut plant parts and soak a cloth in it. Wash the area with the preparation.
