The cayenne pepper, where capsasin comes from, was a native plant of Mexico but is cultivated throughout the world today. Not only is capsasin useful to increase localized blood flow and treat painful injuries, but it can relieve symptoms of arthritis as well as improve the debilitation by helping remove toxins from the body and promote flow of nutrients to the tissues in need. Capsasin in pepper can help relieve gas and even stimulate digestive juices so that digestion is improved and not sluggish. It has even been mentioned to treat symptoms of sore throats, obviously because of its analgesic and antimicrobial properties.

One remedy for sore throats is a pince of cayenne to 25 ml of lemon juice in a cup of hot water and a dash of honey as a gargle. Another remedy for muscles aches and arthritis is made by simmering oil and chopped cayenne which can make a useful rub for painful tissues.
