Valarian root

The part of the valarian plant that is used is the root. It contains several volatile oils (essential oils) that affect a person's body. Used as a whole root, the herb is not considered to have side effects on a large percentage of users, though one must always consider that a person can have individual reactions to anything that is put in or on the body. An extract of valarian root is much more concentrated and it is in this form that a more sensitive reaction may occur.
