Eucallyptus is an herb from down under that is an essential part of the herbal first aid kit. Mostly, it is indicated for colds with a lot of congestion. Eucallyptus is an excellent inhalant herb, meaning one that can be administered and have benefits by inhaling the fumes that have been diluted in simmering water. The eucallyptus fumes can break up mucous and clear the sinuses as well as act as an antimicrobial and deter diseases from progressing and maybe even reducing the effects of illnesses in the body.
It can also be an effective cough suppressant as it can help relieve swollen throat tissue. One source suggests putting a couple drops of eucallyptus in a tablespoon of honey for a quick cough suppresant - personally, I don't know if I could take a tablespoon of honey.
