Korean Red Jinseng

Korean jinseng is simply the Angelica sinensis herb being cultivated and harvested from Korea. There is not a "Chinese" and "Korean" jinseng. The "red" refers to the root being heated in some way - historically by the sun but in modern times with a steaming process. Once this process is done then the constituents are different than that of the raw, or "white" jinseng. The Korean jinseng companies purport that their organically grown jinseng has four times the amount of active, health promoting ingredients. Perhaps it is the process that improves or alters the constituents so that their effect is enhanced. But this is an educated guess.
The ginsinosides of the herb are useful in promoting a healthy metabolism in the body and thus helping the body's systems deal with any environmental pressure that it undergoes. This is why it is considered an adaptogenic herb, or one that can help the body "adapt" to any disease situation.
