Boswelia

Boswelia is a native plant of India and often used in Indian herbal medicine. The boswellic acids contained in boswelia seem to lend anti-inflammatory properties to this herb, making it a useful remedy for all types of arthritis, bursitis and other chronic inflammatory diseases. There have been several studies that show that people suffering from these diseases have received benefits from taking boswelia.

Safety research on boswelia is scarce but there do not seem to be notable side effects. There are rare occurances of allergies and gastrointestinal upset. There has also been one study that did not show any notable effects for inflammatory diseases, so the jury is still out on the overall effectiveness of boswelia.
