Scullcap extract and powder can be used to relieve nervous muscle spasms and convulsions. In the 19th century, scullcap seemed to be used for much more serious nervous system disorders than it is indicated for today. Today the literature speaks of skullcap as having mild sedative properties, yet in history it was used to affect serious disorders like schizophrenia, hysteria, epilepsy, and even rabies.

Now the herbal extract is recommended to be taken for nervous tension and headaches twice a day using 3ml of the tincture in water. Also, 200mg capsules are recommended for nervous exhaustion twice a day.
