Black cohash may help in a variety of circumstances and different preparations of the herb's roots can be made. A black cohash rub can actually help with the pain of arthritis. Historically, Native Americans used black cohash for rheumatism and colonists used it for back pain. Making creams is a little complicated because one has to melt wax and and combine it with water, then the herb. A bath of black cohash may be a little easier and less time consuming; use a few tablespoons of black cohash oil in the hot tub water. Many products are available online.
Other pain, like back pain, can be relieved this way or by taking an herbal tea of black cohash. The suggested dosage is one dropperful of tincture in a cup of water taken 3 or 4 times a day for several months until the pain gets better.
