Black Cohash Dangers

There do not seem to be extreme dangers when using black cohash in normal dosages for treating menopausal symptoms, menstural pain, or inflammation. It is best to work with an herbal health practitioner if you are combining black cohash with estrogen replacement therapy, or if you are transitioning from this therapy to black cohash.
Otherwise, normal preparations of black cohash include decoctions of the root at a half cup taken twice a day, pills from the powdered herb, or a tincture of 40 drops to 1/2 cup of water taken 3 times a day. The decoction is often used for rheumatism, the pills may be taken for menopausal hot flashes and mood swings and the tincture may be helpful during menopausal pain.
