The lavendar plant is cultivated around the world for its scent and its medicinal properties. It is considered a safe herb and is one of the only essential oils that can be used safely with some pets. Cats, however, process essential oils differently then most animals and so even lavendar may be harmful to their kidneys especially if the undiluted oil is allowed to enter their system through their skin or digestive system.

The lavendar plant can aid with anxious or aggressive pets. The essential oil of lavendar should be diluted with distilled water if applied to the skin of the animal or the oil can be put on an object like a towel or cotton ball to let the scent remain near the stressed pet.
