Black cohash is normally seen as a safe herbal remedy. However, there are cautions to take when administering this herb. Normal dosages should be followed to avoid overdose problems like vomiting and headaches to name a few. There could also be effects to the hormonal system since black cohash can have an affect, so pregnant or nursing women and teenages may want to take caution. Also, though black cohash does not seem to act like estrogen in the sense of promoting breast-cancer cell growth - large scale studies have not been conducted to study the herb in the way that estrogen has been studied. So breast cancer survivors may want to note this caution.
