Ashwaganda and hair growth

Interestingly, ashwaganda is purported to aid in hair growth. It is one of the ayurvedic herbs that is suggested, amla is another. Though this is not something that I have seen reported in a lot of literature, there is some rational behind why ashwaganda may do this. It is purported to help in the nourishment of tissues. This may indicate, for example, that ashwaganda acts as a tonic for the circulatory system which may, in turn, aid in the health of hair folicles.
Another thought is that ashwaganda helps as a tonic to the reproductive system and thus possibly affects the hormonal balance. If this is the case (hypothetically it makes sense), then since the hormones directly affect the hair folicle health, ashwaganda can help improve or maintain hair growth.
