Alow vera, known throughout the world as a skin healer for sunburn and other minor wounds is also an herb that is useful for skin problems such as acne, where the healing power of alow vera can be used to clear up such blemishes. Some herbs can do this by imitating the skin's own healing functions; jojoba oil is another one with similar properties to alow vera and seen more commonly on cosmetic labels. The healing properties of the alow vera gel, as well as its emollient properties are probably the reasons behind its magic. An emollient is a substance that soothes and lubricates skin surfaces.
