Passon Flower
Posted By: Maureen Date: Tuesday, June 20 2006, at 4:11 p.m.
Passon Flower is a native US southern plant, but is cultivated throughout Europe now, as well. The aerial parts of the plant are used to make herbal remedies, notably for its tranquilizing effects on the human nervous system. The aerial parts of a plant refer to the parts that are above ground, so the stem, leaves and flowers are included when making a preparation of the herb.
Passon flower is also used as a painkiller during menstruation, for headaches and dental problems. Since it is such a gentle relaxant, passon flower can be useful as a sleep aid and to calm the nerves during times of tension.
