Green tea is often purported to help a number of ailments including cancer, mostly because of its antioxident properties. As far as helping with high blood presure, I'm not so sure green tea is the place to start. Caffeine is often a substance that can contribute to high blood pressure and green tea has its share. One cup can have 40 to 100 mg of caffeine and can rival the content in coffee. On the flip side, caffeine can also increase metabolism and possibly get one going in order to exercise and shed the extra weight that's causing high blood presure. So, really, understand what's causing high blood presure and work from there.
Some interesting advice on how to ween off of caffeine came from one source that suggested slowly moving toward Cajun Blend Coffee which is 50% chicory. It turns out that chicory is a natural liver stimulant and can give one the energy that's needed without caffeine. So, by moving over to a chicory mixed with decaf, one can get the notion to exercise without the caffeine that can counteract lowering blood pressure.
