Ginko Leaves

Ginko leaves can be used in a tincture preparation in order to administer the healing properties of the tree. Normally, using the freshest ingredients from herbs creates the highest quality preparation. Ginko trees are nearly extinct in the wild, but they are cultivated worldwide for their circulatory stimulation, antioxident properties, and anti-inflammatory action. Seeds are available online and the trees grow well in fertile, moist, yet well-drained soil with plenty of sunshine. My favorite tree in my grandparents' backyard in upstate Ohio is a Ginko tree.
Tinctures are made this way: 1. soak 7-10 ounces of fresh, cut up leaves in 1 quart vodka or rum in a glass jar; 2. seal the jar and store for 2 weeks, shaking every 2 days; 3. strain liquid from plant matter; and 4. store tincture in closed bottle away from sunlight. The standard dosage is 1 teaspoon diluted in a cup of water 2 times a day.
